About this conversation
If God already knows every choice we will make, are we actually free—or are we only moving through a plan that has already been written? The Disciple Standard Podcast crew works through that question by separating God's timeless knowledge from control, examining how our will relates to our nature, and exploring the “middle knowledge” view associated with Molinism. Along the way they compare supralapsarian and infralapsarian accounts of election and the fall, explain Boethius's view of God and time, unpack compatibilism through Luther, Calvin, and Jonathan Edwards, and test the strengths and tensions of each view. This is a long-form theological conversation, not a claim that every mystery has been solved. The goal is to show why divine foreknowledge, predestination, and meaningful human choice may not be the contradiction they first appear to be.
